MeshMe is designed for high school and college students and centered around communication and confidentiality. MeshMe provides a forum for student users to communicate with other students at their school and on their campus, either openly or anonymously, by responding to a series of pre-written prompts. Students can use the prompts to nominate their fellow student users for titles, and can chat directly with other users who send them the same prompt. In the case of anonymous nominations, users can send or ask for hints in order to communicate more confidently without giving up their privacy.

For every high school or college, there are three primary ways in which students can deliver their messages, or what MeshMe refers to as "Meshes." If a student sends a pre-written prompt as a Direct Mesh, the recipient can see the prompt along with the identity of the student who sent it. If a student sends a pre-written prompt as a Stealth Mesh, the recipient can see the prompt but the identity of the student who sent is kept anonymous. Finally, if a student sends a pre-written prompt as a Secret Mesh, the recipient cannot see the prompt or the identity of the student who sent it. Both students are only able to chat if they both send each other the same prompt (regardless of the message type). MeshMe also releases a unique yearbook-style prompt every 24 hours that engages people to nominate others for various positive and acknowledging superlatives. Once the 24 hour period is complete, the results are collectively released and a new 24-hour prompt is delivered for each college. This exciting feature is known as the Prompt of the Day!

MeshMe also allows students to anonymously invite their friends to join in order to grow the community, communicate with more people, and make more connections while still retaining their privacy and confidence on the platform. Additionally, because MeshMe wants to help facilitate meaningful communication between students and make each community unique in its own way, students can anonymously recommend prompts that they want to see and (upon approval) MeshMe will integrate these prompts. These user-generated prompts will make the communities more vibrant, effective, and collaborative!

Upon signing up for MeshMe, students are automatically grouped within their high school or college community via their school emails unique domain. This grouping is to ensure safety and community-building as students can only interact and communicate with students within their mutual school grouping. MeshMe has compiled a list of high school and college domains and communities that are currently open to student sign-ups, and this list will hopefully be expanded as interest grows from other communities and students. All of the currently available school communities on MeshMe are—and will be for the foreseeable future—only located within the United States.

MeshMe recommends that in order to ensure that the communications between students are meaningful and effective, it limits the number of people who can be simultaneously nominated and listed by another student for each specific prompt. Accordingly, MeshMe naturally integrates these limitations with in-app purchases. MeshMe also acknowledges that some students may want to have more nominations, or Meshes, than the limit provides for a particular prompt, in which case they can purchase additional ones. Once they have used up their natural limit of Meshes, they have the option of purchasing additional Meshes with their preference of type (either Stealth or Secret). They will receive one Mesh (of the type they selected) per purchase. Given that each prompt has different slot limits, the availability of additional nominations—which is displayed to users—depends on the pre-determined limit.
